Natural ingredients
Using natural ingredients for mold removal has a number of benefits both for your health and the environment. When using some chemical cleaners the fumes that they give off can be harsh on the lungs. If you have children or pets they are not appropriate for you to use. In this case it is important to try and find an alternative that will still effectively remove the mold.
One of the best ingredients out there is tea tree oil. There are different tea tree oils, so for mold removal you need one that has terpinen 4-ol and cineole as its active ingredients. Mix this with a cup of water to every teaspoon of tea tree oil to create an effective mold removal liquid. Despite being much safer for your lungs, tea tree oil is still not safe to drink so make sure that you keep it out of the reach of children and animals.
Even safer than tea tree oil
While tea tree oil is much safer for the lungs, it can still cause issues if ingested. So there is an even safer alternative for mold removal. White spirit vinegar. It is acidic, which is where it gets its potency for mold removal from. Just put some into a spray bottle without diluting it and spray it onto the infected areas. If you do not want to use a spray bottle you could also just pour it onto a cloth and scrub the area.
While white distilled vinegar does have a slightly unpleasant smell, it is significantly safer than using tea tree oil. It is not toxic and can be consumed, albeit in small doses. You can even use it as a salad dressing if you like, as long as you are using the 5% version. It will not cause any damage to the environment if you use it to clean mold around your sink too. It really does provide excellent cleaning power with heightened safety. White distilled vinegar is possibly the best overall mold removal product.
