Carlitos Way (1993)

Carlito Brigante is released from prison with the help of his corrupt lawyer, Dave Kleinfeld, played by actor Sean Penn. Carlito vows to change his old ways of crime and violence and live a straight life. He meets up with old friends and fellow gangster, Pachanga, played by actor Luis Guzman, from the old neighbourhood and notices how much things have changed since he has been away. While hanging out with his young cousin, not aware that he was on his way to a drug deal, Carlito has to shoot his way out and takes the drug money. Carlito buys into a nightclub and works as the club promoter. While away from work, he looks up former girlfriend, Gail, played by Penelope Ann Miller. Later, he surprisingly notices her performing a strip show on stage and they both feel the uneasy tension. Carlito wants to escape from the havoc and take her with him.
Carlito’s old friend and his lawyer beg him to help escape from a mob boss client. He believes Kleinfeld stole a million dollars that was supposed to be used as a payoff. Later, Carlito finds out that Kleinfeld sold him out and he hears a tape in which Kleinfeld offers to testify against him. Kleinfeld’s unethical behaviour catches up with him when he is shot in the head by a posed police officer, who happens to be Tony T.’s other son “Vinnie”.
