Indiana Jones never fails to impress and be it the 1938 flick or the latest 2008 one, it always endears with its enjoyable and interesting plot. Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull is worth watching for many reasons, and I think the best reason is the comeback of Harrison Ford in the lead role.
Master actor Harrison Ford remarkably plays the unforgettable archaeologist/relic hunter, Indiana Jones. This film is fourth in the line of the exciting Indiana Jones series and though comparisons are inevitable, it stands out as a memorable addition to the action packed adventure series.
I would say that the previous three Indiana Jones movies are sheer classics and this one does not really qualify as one. However for the sake of old times and nostalgia, this version promises to bring you back the Indiana Jones spirit, if in a slightly less intense form.
George Lucas is the producer of the film while David Koepp, from War of the Worlds fame, is the screenwriter. Both make a great team and have successfully set the movie in the backdrop of the cold war. Here the Soviets, taking the place of Nazis and posing as villains are led by the impressive Cate Blanchett, and all are in search of a crystal skull which holds great powers connected to a city of gold.
The CGI effects might be impressive but I was so reminded of the boulder-rolling effects that usually accompany Indiana Jones films.
The film is not devoid of humour and has plenty of funny moments. The biggest piece of the cake definitely goes to Ford for his superb action role and at his age, he can still give the other Hollywood heroes a run for their money.
