Feeding Rabbits

Feeding your pet rabbit is an essential part of his or her healthy diet. The way you feed them is important as well. Your rabbit should always have a large supply of fresh water. Even if they do not drink it all in one day, change it every 24 hours anyway. All pets require fresh water all the time. It’s extremely important to their nutrition. Most rabbits use a water bottle attached to the side of their cage. Keep an eye on the mouth hole because they can become plugged at times and you may not realize that the water is not coming out.

Rabbit pellets can be purchased at any pet store. Make sure to select pellets that specifically state that they are for rabbits and not a different pet like guinea pigs or hamsters. That way you know that the pellets have been designed to meet the needs of your pet specifically. Make sure your rabbit always has access to food. Along with their pellets they should receive fruit and vegetables on a regular basis. They are natural herbivores so be sure to supply them with what they would be eating in the wild. Things like apple slices, carrots and celery are all great items that your bunny will waste no time nibbling.

Try not to be alarmed if you notice that your rabbit is eating some of his or her faeces. It is something that they do on occasion to receive additional nutrition. Keep your rabbit well fed with healthy foods for longevity and optimum health.
