Fatfield Diet



This diet began as a component of the BBC daytime series “Bazaar” in which the creators of the series challenged the citizens of a British city called Fatfield to lose weight. The series was a success and spawned a paperback novel as well as a recipe book. The Fatfield Diet plan is a low-calorie, high fibre plan whose premise revolves around consuming large amounts of fibrous foods, especially vegetables. The diet works by making participants feel full while promoting weight loss. In fact, the tagline for the diet is “Eat More, Weigh Less”.
While extremely popular in Great Britain in the 1990’s, this diet never found favour with a world-wide audience. This is a very healthy diet plan full of leafy green vegetables and water rich veggies such as cucumbers and celery. Low calorie fruits such as watermelon and strawberries are encouraged on this plan while processed foods and sugary sweets are frowned upon. Participants are encouraged to exercise on a regular basis and to drink lots of water. People following this plan are generally pleased by the quantities of the foods available as well as the flexibility of the plan. The main disadvantages of this diet are that the foods require time to prepare which can be difficult for those with busy schedules or who rely regularly upon restaurant meals.
Participants in the Fatfield diet will almost certainly lose weight, and it is likely that this vegetable-based diet will improve dieters’ overall health.
