Finding a Good Home for Your Puppies

Most dog breeders will agree that finding the right home for their puppies is one of the most important parts of the breeding process. You want to be sure that it will be the best place for them to spend the rest of their life. You should try to find out if the people who want to buy the puppy are committed to it – if they have taken the time to read up on how the breed behaves and whether they will be able to provide it with the right stimulation and care it needs. This means that the whole family, including children, should meet you and the puppy.

Other pets may be a problem for some breeds whereas others may need the companionship and it’s important that potential owners are aware of this. People often buy pedigree dogs with the thought that they might be able to breed from them – try and find out if they want to breed and whether they are equipped to do so. You should also make sure that you let potential owners know about any particular needs or care requirements that the breed has.
If buyers are not aware that they will have to put in the time and effort that the dog requires, they may end up returning it to you. The owners must be prepared to make the necessary adjustments to their property and lifestyles. In the end if you are not satisfied that the puppy will be happy, don’t sell it.
