There are various kinds of mental disorders, a common of which is depression. Depression is a severe mental disorder in children that harmfully affects temper, interest, energy, sleep, appetite, and the whole functioning opposite to normal emotions of sorrow or common mood states. The symptoms of such disorder are persistent and extreme, and can hinder the child’s functions in school and home. The most common mental health disorder is anxiety that happens in children and teenagers. A survey was conducted from to children ranges from 9 to 17 years old called the Methods for the Epidemiology of Child and Adolescent Mental Disorders (MECA) which revealed as much as 13 percent of young people with anxiety disorder every year.
Moreover, the attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is the most frequently diagnosed childhood mental disorder that affects an estimate of 3-5 percent of school children. The symptoms of such disorder include the unfitting attention levels, concentration, activity, impulsivity, and distractibility. It also notes eating disorders as the most common problem among young women and adolescents in the U.S., wherein as estimate of 0.5 and 1.0 percent experience anorexia nervosa, 1- 3 percent in bulimia nervosa, and 0.7 percent in binge-eating disorder.
Another disorder is manic-depressive, whicht causes heavy changes in mood, functioning, and energy. In contrast with the normal mood states, the symptoms of such disorders can affect the child’s school performance, peer interactions, family relationships, and other activities daily. The said mental disorder is evident to teenagers ages 14-18.
