Adriana Francesca Lima, nickname Lima Bean, is one of the world’s top catwalk models, and is a regular name in the 100 Most Sexy Women Polls. She is most well known for being a Victoria’s Secret Angel.
Born in Salvador, Bahia, Brazil on 12th June 1981, she was brought up by her social worker mother after her father abandoned them when Adriana was six months old.
Adriana never aspired to be a model but when she was in her early teens a close friend wanted to enter a beauty contest but not alone, so she persuaded Adriana to enter too. At 15, the blue eyed, brown haired beauty won the ‘Ford Supermodel of Brazil’ competition and was runner-up in the ‘Ford Supermodel of the World’.
When she was eighteen, she moved to New York and signed with top agency Elite Model Management and during the next few years notched up an impressive portfolio. She has been featured on the front of all the top fashion magazines such as Marie Claire and Vogue and has worked with the most famous designers, appearing on the catwalk at the major fashion shows. She was listed in the World’s Richest People under 25 in 2005, and was listed as the fourth highest paid supermodel in 2007 and 2008.
Adriana’s success has enabled her to help orphans in her hometown as well as children suffering from leukaemia in Istanbul.
She recently married Serbian basketball player Marko Jaric and they are expecting their first child in December 2009.
