Budgeting/Shopping/Cooking

Being away from home not only means freedom to do what you like; it also means you need to be responsible for your own cooking and food shopping.
You may think that you will have to cut out all that healthy eating if you are going to reduce your food shopping bill.

However, this is not the case, and with a little planning it is perfectly possible to maintain a healthy diet without spending extravagantly:
Plan to do one main food shop per week. If you are buying items of food here and there you are going to be spending a lot more overall. Buying in bulk means that you can take advantage of supermarket price deals.

When doing your weekly shop, plan what you are going to cook for each meal. There is nothing worse than having lots of different products that cannot be put together to make a meal. Make sure your list is ready before you go to the shops, and try not to add to it as you are walking around.

Try to make your meals from scratch. Not only will you impress your friends, you can experiment with all sorts of recipes (which can be healthier and cheaper than buying processed food).

Stick with as much fresh food as possible. It is the healthier option to processed food, and it is also cheaper. If there is one nearby, check out your local food market, as you will find the prices there are much lower than at the supermarket.
