GCSE Choices – Physical Education

Due to a concern in the country’s health and well being GCSE Physical Education (P.E) is also on the list of compulsory education, as the Government wants to try and make sure all children get some exercise at some point during their week, and school is a good opportunity for this.

The course for GCSE is interesting and challenging, and has changed somewhat from the ideal that boys play football and rugby, girl’s netball and hockey, and in the mean time everyone can run! Schools have changed and moved with the times, and you can now find yourself studying dance, yoga, judo, weight training and more. There should be something there to appeal to even the most non sporting student. Additionally, now you get the added bonus of being able to learn some theory about the human body, muscles, and the sports industry and how to run a business.

There is an exam at the end of the course which tests the theoretical knowledge, and during the course your practical work will be monitored and assessed with you preparing for specific assessments as you go. There is lots of information on the internet to help you revise if you are struggling to learn the key facts, but it interweaves with other subjects so you may find some of it relates to your science courses, especially biology.
