Making your GCSE choices can seem like a really scary thing to do, there are so many different choices you could make, so you naturally want to be sure you are doing the right thing. Thankfully there are many sources of help and advice out there for you so don’t panic and stay calm.
The first place to start is with your school, they will be producing lots of literature to try and make the options clear. They will also try and run as many taster sessions as they can where you can spend a lesson in a subject you may not have tried before but that is available as an option. This will give you a good idea of what to expect from that particular course.
Secondly, speak to your parents, explain your thought process and see what they think and what advice they can offer. For example, ‘I am thinking about taking business and finance as I want to have a good knowledge of money’. If needs be write out the reasons for your choices, and see which comes in with the strongest reason.
Also use the internet as there is a wealth of information available for young people of your age. Google each subject and see what information you can find about it. Try and choose a course that is going to really interest you as well as being of some benefit in the future when it comes to choosing a career.
