Built in 1906, from white Portland stone, in the classic English Renaissance style, Cardiff City Hall offers an exquisite venue for your wedding party, whether large or small. There are a number of sumptuous rooms, dripping with grand paintings, tapestries and sculptures, stylishly decorated throughout. Perhaps most impressively, from the second you enter you are faced with the opulent, white marble Victorian staircase.
The Assembly Room, City Hall’s largest room, can comfortably provide space for 500 guests. There is a stage and lighting rigs can easily be accommodated. Access to the Assembly Room is through the Marble Hall, traditionally a welcome drinks area, but which can also be used for wedding ceremonies and receptions. Richly decorated Sienna marble and brightly coloured stained glass windows, provide a stylish backdrop.
Directly behind City Hall are the peaceful Alexandra Gardens, while over the road is Cardiff Castle and its Bute Gardens, both idyllic spots to capture your special wedding day photographs.
Car parking space is only allowed for the wedding car, but being located in the city centre, there is plenty of public car parking available nearby.
Cardiff’s city centre is home to a number of excellent hotels; while just across the river Taff, in the suburb of Canton, is a wide range of guesthouses and family run hotels.
Reaching central Cardiff is straightforward; you are within 10 minutes of the M4 motorway or just a 5minute walk from Cardiff Central Railway Station, with its links with London Paddington. Cardiff International Airport is within close proximity to the city and of course, Cardiff Bay Marina is just across the road, should you choose to arrive by yacht.
