St Nicholas, Vale of Glamorgan
The Duffryn Gardens estate has a history that stretches back more than 500 years and the picturesque country manor house is straight of out of a Jane Austen novel. The classically styled house is situated in the centre of extensive, beautifully landscaped, botanical gardens. No matter which season you choose to marry in, the 50acre gardens will provide you with a perfect backdrop for your wedding photographs, as you walk amongst the trees, shrubs and formal gardens.
Duffryn Gardens offers two wedding venues. During the summer months an elegant marquee is erected, which is capable of catering for up to 180 guests. There is also the Pompeian Room, a “gardened room”, which was inspired by the former owner, Richard Cory’s, visit to Italy. This has a decidedly elegant renaissance feel to it and is licensed for performing civil marriage ceremonies.
The country house has plenty of on-site car parking during the day. For any guests looking to stay overnight, there is ample accommodation within a 10minute drive. Guests wishing to stay nearby should try The Copthorne Hotel at Culverhouse Cross, Cardiff or a number of smaller, family run and B&B style hotels on the outskirts of the city.
Duffryn Gardens and Country House is situated 5miles from Cardiff and is within easy reach of the M4, just off junction 33. St Nicholas is on the main A48, which links Cardiff with Bridgend. For guests arriving by air, Cardiff Wales International Airport is only a ten-minute taxi ride away.
