Situated in St Albans, this Georgian house used to be the country home of Lord Mountbatten and is set in 12 acres of landscaped grounds. The rooms range from standard to suites and apartments, all offering flat screen TV and wireless Internet. The Country Club and Spa offer over 30 holistic treatments, swimming pool, sauna, steam room and gym.
The Restaurant at Sopwell House has a predominantly British menu, but incorporates some French touches and the dishes are created using fresh seasonal ingredients sourced locally. The hotel’s brasserie offers classic dishes in a relaxed environment.
Sopwell House has a team of event co-ordinators to organise your big day and it can host events of up to 280 guests, with a range of suites available to suit parties of all sizes. Couples have a free reign when planning menus for wedding breakfasts and buffets for evening receptions, with a vast selection of dishes to choose from.
The hotel’s resident DJ and band can provide entertainment, while a directory of external suppliers, recommended by the hotel, is available for other aspects of the day. Optional extras include fake snow and ice sculptures, for winter weddings
The hotel will provide a Junior Suite for the bride and groom on their wedding night, as part of one of the wedding packages available. The packages are suitable for parties of more than 50 people and other details include champagne toasts, toastmaster, welcome drinks and wedding stationery.
