The Boston Terrier was created by blending the American Pit Bull Terrier, Boxer, English Bulldog, English Bull Terrier and the French Bulldog. This breed originated in the United States of America. They are a small to medium sized dog that is compact and well built. The Boston Terrier was not created as a working dog but as a loving and loyal companion.
The Boston Terrier’s body is short and rather square. The legs are short and can be muscular. The face resembles the bulldog in its features. Their eyes are dark, sparkling and are wide open. The skin is loose around the neck but close fitting around the rest of the body.
The fur coat of the Boston Terrier is short and smooth. The most common colours are brindle, black or seal and all have white markings. There is a distinct colour pattern on the face of the Boston Terrier. There is a white band around the muzzle and between the eyes along with the chest. Other white patterning may occur but the aforementioned are the typical markings of the purebred Boston Terrier.
The temperament of the Boston Terrier is loving and kind. It was bred for a companion so this breed does need to have a task to make it happy, only the affection of the owner. This breed is devoted to its family and is a gentle and non-aggressive canine. They can be energetic or calm depending on their individual personality.
