The Cesky Fousek originated in the Czech Republic. It is a gun dog type of breed that is also referred to as a Bohemian Wire Haired Pointing Griffon. It is a medium-size dog and is primarily used for hunting small game.
One of the most unique and distinctive visual traits of this breed is the size between the male and female Cesky Fouseks. There are usually differences in size or even structure to a subtle degree in most dogs but, in this case, the difference in highly noticeable. Males are considerably larger and more masculine.
Another unique aspect to the Cesky Fousek is the hair length throughout the body. It is short on the back, tail, and legs. However, the length increases on the chest, stomach, and muzzle. The fur of the top coat of the Cesky Fousek is dense and harsh whilst the undercoat is soft. Colours generally include variations of brown, red, and white. Patterns, spots, patches or ticking can occur and vary from canine to canine.
The Cesky Fouseks are very loyal. They are intended to be a working dog, but they are gentle enough to be a companion and pet. They can hunt and retrieve waterfowl or track large game and enjoy the thrill and interaction of being with their owner on a mission. This particular hunting breed is so devoted to their owners that as long as they have an active relationship and a strong bond with them, the Cesky Fouseks are happy.
