The Chippiparai is a scent hound type of breed originating in India. The Chippiparai is a working dog that has strong hunting instincts. They are hunters of rabbits, boar and deer. However, hunting is not the only task that this dog can handle. They are also good guard dogs that resemble the Sloughi or Rampur Hound.
The overall appearance of the Chippiparai is tall and powerful with a commanding presence. They are a muscular breed that carries a strong and superior authority. One of the best attributes of this canine is that they are less likely to become infested with fleas or ticks.
The short fur coat is a bonus and is the reason owners are able to detect any fleas or ticks before they become a problem. Aside from the coat being short, it is glossy making it look attractive and healthy. The colour is a grey or silver shade. They typically do not have markings and if some are present, they are very limited.
The Chippiparai’s temperament is loyal and brave. They are very active. This breed enjoys running and spending time with their owner. They also have great speed and can catch the fastest animals with ease.
The Chippiparai needs a lot of exercise. They are hyperactive and energetic so exercise is important for mental stimulation and a healthy physique. They are a hardy breed and do not need much in the way of check-ups or care.
