Children at your wedding part one

So you have decided to have children at your wedding reception. Now it’s time to plan ahead and be prepared for keeping them amused during your special day, as even the most angelic child can turn into a whinging whining nuisance once bored or hungry.
Find out if your reception venue has a small quiet room where nursing mothers are able to take their babies and tired little ones can have a nap. Organising a babysitter to help mind the children during the reception can take a weight off everyone’s mind. Make sure to check their references first or even ask parents if they can rotate childminding shifts.
Space for the children to play and run off some energy from sitting quietly and behaving so well is an ideal situation. Some entertainment will work wonders. Perhaps a magician, clown or even a bouncy castle if you have the outdoor space will help to entertain the little angels and keep parents and other guests happy.
Another option would be to provide a table with some arts and crafts further enough away from the guests listening to the speeches but close enough for parents to feel secure that their child is happy and amused. Masks and hats are often a popular choice for slightly older children; younger children may want pictures to colour in themselves and others may be thrilled to be asked to draw a picture of themselves with the happy couple.
Decorating their table especially for them can keep them seated at their ‘special’ table, making them feel actively involved in the event.
