Toy Fox Terrier – Dog Breed Information and Pictures

Since the Toy Fox Terrier originates from the United States, it is sometimes known as the American Toy Terrier or the Amertoy for short. Their lineage can be traced back to around the beginning of the twentieth century. They were created through the breeding of the Fox Terrier and Smooth Fox Terrier dog breeds. The United Kennel Club recognized the breed in 1936 and the American Kennel Club recognized it in 2000.

Toy Fox Terriers are most commonly used as companions and less as working dogs, as opposed to most terriers. They are very intelligent and quite easy to train. If trained properly, the Toy Fox Terrier can answer a number of commands. They have become a popular dog for people with disabilities as the Toy Fox Terrier will do as it is told. Since they are so small and don’t need a lot of physical activity, the Toy Fox Terrier is a good choice for people living in apartments, or small houses in the city. While they do need to be walked on a regular basis, they are fine with living in such close quarters.
