The Carolina Dog originated in the United States of America. It is also called the American Dingo. This is primarily due to the fact that this canine bears a striking resemblance to the Australian Dingo. These two breeds are most likely related. The Carolina Dogs are survivalists, and they can use their surroundings to their benefit. The Carolina Dog has ancient roots that have been documented throughout history.
The overall general appearance and structure of the Carolina Dog is that it looks like a combination of a wolf and a jackal. The carriage of this dog is very distinctive. The ears are long and upright, the neck is long, and the tail has a fish-hook configuration.
The coat of the Carolina Dog is another distinctive characteristic of this breed. These dogs do shed to allow for a lighter coat during the summer months. This makes grooming a chore during the spring. They are heavy shedders. The hair on their back tends to stand up when anxious or excited. The Carolina Dog hair is short and coarse. The colours can include red ginger, black, tan, fawn, yellow and straw. Many variations of these colours can be present.
The Carolina Dog is generally very cautious. They are not typically afraid of things, but shyness is definitely a personality trait. They are usually not outgoing or friendly, and they do not tend to enjoy contact with strangers. Carolina Dogs have been found to have a skill for efficiently hunting in packs.
