Adopting Rabbits

If you have come to realise that you will not be able to care for your pet rabbit long term, it’s important to make sure they get to the right home for them. Putting a rabbit up for adoption is hard work that requires so much more than just an ad in the newspaper. Animals are very special creatures that need love and care. Don’t abandon an animal or dump it at the shelter because it’s the easiest way to deal with it. There are better ways to find a home for your rabbit and you owe it to him or her to try.

If you send your rabbit to the animal shelter, there is a very high chance that they will not be adopted and will end up scheduled to be disposed of. Some people can live with that and feel no remorse; however, compassion and love are part of being an animal owner. Regardless of why you need to give your rabbit away, it’s your responsibility to make sure they go to a warm, loving family.

Do your best to keep the rabbit until you find a suitable home for it. If you hear from others interested in your bunny, find out all that you can about them. You need to know that they can have a rabbit in their home and that they are experienced enough to provide proper care. Keep your rabbit clean and cared for so that they blend easily with a new family. Adopting out a rabbit takes dedication to finding the best family possible.
