Alessandra Corine Ambrosio, born 11th April 1981, knew from the age of eight that she wanted to be a model. At 12 she enrolled in a modelling school and two years later was a finalist in a top Brazilian modelling competition. So focused was she on her objective that at 11 she had cosmetic surgery on her ears, convinced they were too big.
Her first major job was the cover of Elle Magazine in Brazil and since then the brown haired, brown-eyed beauty has catapulted to supermodel status. She is always in demand and has walked the runway for top designers and worked for the top brand labels such as Gucci, Ralph Lauren and Christian Lacroix. Her face covers the world’s elite fashion magazines including Vogue, Cosmopolitan, Glamour and Marie Claire.
Alessandra, nickname Ale, launched her own line of swimwear in 2004, and branded as Alessandra Ambrosia by Sais is quickly becoming a key competitor in the fashion industry.
She is one of the highest paid models in the world. Since 2000, she has been contracted as an angel by Victoria’s Secret, famously walking down the runway in 2005 clothed in lingerie made entirely out of confectionery. She was the first spokes-model for the company’s Secret PINK range.
Although she travels to the world’s most exotic places, she still considers her hometown of Erechim her most favourite place.
In 2008, Alessandra and her fiancé Jamie Mazur, a Californian businessman, had a child – a daughter born in Brazil.
