Alexa Chung, born 5 November 1983 in Privett, Hampshire, England, is a television presenter and occasional fashion model.
Bright as well as beautiful, Alexa opted for a modelling career turning her back on offers to study both at Kings College London and Chelsea College of Art and Design.
At 16 she modelled for teen magazines, Urban Outfitters and appeared in adverts for brands such as Sony Ericsson and Fanta.
At 20, she lost confidence and esteem in her body shape and started to investigate studying an art or fashion course, vowing never to return to modelling.
Before she could enrol in college, Channel 4 offered Alexa the chance to co-host ‘Popworld’, a music show. When the show finished, Alexa continued to present a wide range of shows on the TV channel, including travel, movies and music.
In 2008, Alexa landed what she called pretty much her dream job as a fashion reporter on ‘Gok’s Fashion Fix’. This year also saw her return to the catwalk for Vivienne Westwood’s Red Label Show. She was the face of Revamped, Oxfam’s ethical fashion range, and New Look, a British High Street chain. She is currently the face the DKNY jeans.
In April 2009 Alexa and her partner Alex Turner, lead singer with the Arctic Monkeys, moved to Brooklyn, New York with the intention of pursuing an American TV career. She now has a daily chat show on MTV, ‘It’s On with Alexa Chung’.
