Amber Laura Heard was born on 22nd April 1986 in Austin, Texas, a blonde haired green-eyed beauty with a sister named Whitney and a Yorkshire terrier named Pistol. From a young age Amber was involved in acting through the drama group at her school and went on to appear in local adverts.
Her best friend died in a car accident when Amber was sixteen and this tragic event has had a deep effect on her life, causing her to reject her Catholic upbringing and become an atheist. She dropped out of High School and headed to New York planning to become a model, but soon changed her mind, hating the work and finding no job satisfaction. She moved to Los Angeles to become an actress.
Once settled in Los Angeles, Amber landed work appearing in several TV shows including ‘Jack and Bobby’ and ‘The Mountain’ in 2004 and ‘The O.C.’ in 2005. In 2004, she won her first film role in ‘Friday Night Lights’.
Although she prefers movies to TV, she accepted the role of Greta Mathews in CW Network’s ‘Hidden Palms’. Amber had to lose 25 pounds for the role and achieved the desired weight by avoiding any carbohydrates and working out daily. It took the actress four months to shed the pounds.
Amber has tackled various film roles in everything from zombie horror movies to martial arts films. In 2009, she was the love interest of Johnny Depp in the film ‘The Rum Diary’ and she describes this as ‘the best experience of my life’.
