If this movie were not so well done, it could easily be boring and I almost didn’t watch it because of that. It is a documentary of former Vice President Al Gore’s passionate campaign to save the environment from the escalating effects of global warming.
I’m going to be honest here. I never liked Al Gore when he was in the White House, so I never expected to like him on the big screen either. But it didn’t take me longer than about five minutes into viewing this film to see that while the man may possibly be wrong in many of his assumptions, he was certainly passionate about his cause.
It seems that Gore has taken this cause of protecting our environment and made it his life’s work since leaving office, and one can’t help but be impressed by his knowledge of the subject matter. Some of the things depicted in this movie are downright scary and you almost hope Gore is wrong in his assumptions. If he is correct, you realize that we, as members of the global community, are in serious trouble and our children may not have a world as we know it to live in one day.
Gore presents a lot of convincing evidence in this film, and the scientific community is somewhat at odds in their reactions to his view of conditions. There are those who agree with him, but then a lot of noted scientists do not. Either way, this film is a real eye opener and may just get you to think about what you can do to protect this world in which we all must live for many centuries to come.
