Beauty Tips for the Nursing Mother

After pregnancy, mothers who breastfeed are often concerned about their appearance. It’s not just that they are concerned about nursing clothing and leakage, still they are also concerned about basic hygiene, including their hair, skin, and nails.

To help you feel better about your post-partum appearance and during your breastfeeding period, here are some tips and suggestions.

1. Keep it simple. As a mother, you’ll be very busy with your baby. Develop a basic but pretty dressing routine and stick to it. Realise that a mother is always pretty the way she is and you don’t have to be so fabulous for your baby.

2. Know your priorities. The task of a mother is overwhelming, especially when breastfeeding. Oftentimes, taking a shower is all you can do every day.

3. Do not have a hair style that requires time consuming maintenance. Choose low maintenance styles that don’t require a lot of hot rollers and curling irons, which you may not find time to use.

4. If you hair bothers you, take a few simple accessories, such as headbands, scarves, and barrettes. These can go a long way to making you feel beautiful.

5. Be patient with your skin. The skin changes during and after some months subsequent to pregnancy. It may look botchy or red and feel coarse, but these changes are temporary.

6. Baby your skin. Dehydration and dry skin are typical in breastfeeding moms so don’t forget to moisturise and pamper yourself.

7. Keep your nails short as short clipped nails always look stylish and classic.
