Ben Fogle, Television Presenter, Writer & Adventurer

Ben Fogle was born on November 3, 1973. His mother is actress Julia Foster and his father Bruce Fogle is a vet. He has two sisters and was raised in Dorset and attended the University of Portsmouth.
Ben had been working at Tatler magazine but left to take part in the BBC’s project ‘Castaway 2000’, which stranded a group of people on the Outer Hebridean Island of Taransay to fend for themselves. A career as a television presenter seemed like a natural progression and we have seen his presenting skills on shows such as ‘Animal Park’, ‘Countryfile’ and ‘One Man and His Dog’.
His adventurous side has seen him take on several endurance challenges. In 2005, he rowed across the Atlantic with his good friend, James Cracknell, in just 49 days. He has competed in the Marathon des Sables, a 160 mile race across the Sahara Desert. He recently reunited with Cracknell for a foot race across Antarctica to the South Pole and then in October 2009, they teamed up again to cycle a rickshaw from Edinburgh to London. He has written books on his Atlantic and Antarctica challenges and writes a weekly column for the Daily Telegraph.
He supports numerous charities and good causes including the World Wildlife Fund, the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme and Hearing Dogs for the Deaf. In September 2006, he married Marina Hunt, whom he met while they were walking their dogs. The couple are expecting their first child in December 2009.
