The Blue Lacy is a working breed originating in the United State in the state of Texas. Because it is the only breed to originate there, it has been made the official State Dog Breed of Texas. There are many names commonly used for this breed including: Lacy Dog, Lacy Game Dog, Texas Blue Lacy, Lacy Hog Dog or simply Lacy.
The Blue Lacy is a working dog. It always needs to feel worthy and be active. It is in its nature. It is not happy being a lazy yard dog or house companion. It needs daily activities and an athletic lifestyle. Its working habits and abilities include herding, tracking, treeing, running traps, and hunting dangerous wild animals.
This dog is very lightweight. It is not heavy or thick boned. Usually, its weight is less than fifty pounds. Its name suggests that it is only blue in colour. However, this is not accurate. The truth is that there are a few primary colours of this dog. Blue tends to be silver to charcoal shades. Reds can be a rust colour or even a cream tint.
This breed has heightened agility, speed, endurance and passion for pleasing its owner and completing the tasks at hand. It is active and alert. The Blue Lacy has the capability to focus and show a deep passion for whatever the circumstance. This breed is also very protective of its home and family. This dog is also very easy to train and catches on quickly to new concepts.
