Bruno is about an Austrian fashion queen comes to America looking to find fame and fortune. Of course, Bruno is a homosexual who claims to be working as a reporter for a television network in Austria. Working his way around America, Bruno interviews various unsuspecting “victims” about topics like fashion, celebrities, the latest movies, and even issues concerning homosexuality. The emphasis seems to be more on the gay life with each successive interview, Synopsis:
Bruno, who has no known surname, is a homosexual Austrian fashionista claiming to be a reporter from an Austrian television station. Sacha Baron Cohen who plays Bruno interviews unsuspecting guests about topics such as fashion, entertainment, celebrities and homosexuality, with an emphasis on the latter as each interview progresses.
This movie is hilarious only because one develops a soft spot for Bruno, who seems to be trying to find his way in the unfamiliar country of America. Like so many immigrants before him, he seeks to find fame and fortune, but has a unique path for getting there. It is that path that provides the non-stop laughs.
Be warned, though, the moving can be a bit shocking and may not be suitable for young children. It is packed with such things as talking penises and butt jokes galore, but done in a way that is not too offensive. If you enjoyed the movie Borat, you will probably enjoy this one which I would classify as a “provoc-umentary” film. It is both cringe-worthy as well as quite funny and a good way to spend a few hours.
