The Bull and Terrier is a breed that originated in Britain. This breed is a cross between Terriers and the Old English Bulldogs. The best features of these two dogs were selected in the breeding until the Bull and Terrier was created. The skills that they possess allow them to effectively hunt, fight and bait with authority.
This medium sized dog is well proportioned. They are compact and muscular. The breed can be almost any colour but is rarely solid toned meaning that they are generally bi-coloured or tri-coloured. The fur coats are short in length and typically coarse haired.
The Bull and Terrier is very athletic. They need a lot of exercise. The purpose of the breed was to be a fighter; they were not designed to be a companion. However, they do make excellent pets considering there was nothing left to do with the breed when their skills became obsolete. With the outlawing of dog fighting rings and bull baiting, the need for their skilful traits were no longer needed. Rather than see the breed completely die off and become extinct people began to take them in as pets. They would still rather hunt than be a companion.
Their personality is determined, alert and very passionate. No matter what they are doing they give everything their best effort. This breed is brave and does not cower to anything. The Bull and Terrier will hunt a variety of game and employ inherent techniques to secure an animal for the owner.
