The Carpathian Shepherd Dog is a sheepdog that originated in Romania. Their nature is wolf-like, perhaps indicating their heritage. They have extra sharp senses as well as an incredible ability for speed. The agility in the Carpathian Shepherd Dog is ample. There is a certain level of intensity about this breed. The canine has the ability to adapt and overcome almost any situation but, perhaps, their most unique quality is the fact that they can sense danger from afar and exhibit hostility and fury like a wild beast.
The structure of the Carpathian Shepherd Dog is strong and sturdy. This dog is powerful yet elegant. The strength and stamina of this breed are some of the best attributes.
The fur coat has two layers that provide protection from the weather and outdoor elements. The outer layer is rough, lush, and straight. The under coat is soft and dense. The coat colours are shades of sandy and grey mixed with white. The patterning resembles a wolf.
Carpathian Shepherd Dogs are excellent watchdogs. This breed is highly instinctive, devoted, protective, brave and very loving. The dog will be calm and affectionate in relaxed surroundings but will always be alert and focused on the environment along with everything in or around it.
The Carpathian Shepherd Dog can effectively work in packs. They will designate a leader among them, but it is imperative with this breed that the owner shows clearly that they are the boss. Otherwise, obedience can become a problem.
