Chart Polski – Dog Breed Information and Pictures

The Chart Polski is also known as the Polish Greyhound or Polish Sighthound. This is an ancient breed that originated in Poland and has descended from Asiatic sighthounds. They were used primarily for hunting. This dog hunts hare, wolf, fox and deer.

At first glance, it may seem easy to recognise this breed. They have a very unique figure. Their legs are very long, their chest is large, their waist is small and their head is small and slim. With such a small head on this massive body, the features that stand out the most are the breed’s abnormally large chest area and waist. It displays a certain degree of superiority.

The coat colours are varied. There is no standard or set patterning to this breed. The fur is short and hard. However, the skin has elasticity to it, fitting close to the body. Grooming is not required other than bathing.

The Chart Polski is not overly active and does not choose to be energetic unless they have a task. Most working breeds like hunting dogs need to have a specific amount of exercise. However, this is not necessarily true for the Chart Polski. Moderate exercise routines like walking and playing are good, but it does not have to be an everyday occurrence. Interaction and activity should take place at least a few times a week if they are no longer working dogs. They can be aggressive and territorial, so training and socialising should take place early on in the life of the Chart Polski.
