Christine Bleakley

Christine Bleakley was born in Newry, County Down in Northern Ireland on the 5th February 1979. Whilst studying for her A-levels she worked as a floor manager. She started a politics degree but left university to work in television full-time.

Her first job was as a newsreader and presenter at ‘Belfast Citybeat’ before moving to NI BBC to host programmes such as ‘Sky High’ and ‘First Stop’ as well as hosting one-off events such as ‘Children in Need’. In August 2007 she moved from behind the scenes to co-host of BBC 1 topical magazine show ‘The One Show’ replacing Myleene Klass when she went into labour.

Christine and her co-host on ‘The One Show’, Adrian Chiles, immediately hit it off and the on-screen chemistry led to viewing figures of over six million as well as rumours of an off-screen romance. The rumours intensified after Christine split up with her boyfriend earlier this year and Chiles left his wife of eleven years in the summer of 2008. The pair admitted that they were extremely close but only as friends and that there was no romantic involvement.

In November 2009, Christine admitted to dating Chelsea and English footballer Frank Lampard who had first noticed her when she was a contestant on BBC’s ‘Strictly Come Dancing’.

Since the romance has become public, there are rumours that Chiles is upset about the news and the pair have taken a break from ‘The One Show’.
