Flexitarian Diet

A Flexitarian diet consists of primarily vegetarian options with occasional meat consumption. In other words, this type of diet has been used to describe vegetarians who occasionally consume meat. Flexitarians are a relatively new category of dieter and there are few strict rules governing this type of diet. The most common scenario is that adherents to this diet wish to curb their meat eating, but also want to eat some chicken or fish or even red meat on occasion.
This type of diet can be beneficial since doctors consistently encourage people to increase their intake of fruits and vegetables in order to protect themselves against an array of illness and cancers. Vegetarians typically weigh less than meat-eaters and moderate to little consumption of red meat is strongly encouraged by most of the scientific and medical community. This diet helps eliminate some of the pitfalls of vegetarian diets which can be that it is hard to give up all of one’s favourite foods and that vegetarian options can be hard to find at some restaurants.
For people who wish to lose some weight as well as to make healthier food choices, a Flexitarian diet can be a good choice. It allows you to experience many of the proven benefits of a vegetarian lifestyle without the rigid rules regarding meat consumption. This type of diet is also great for those who don’t want to engage in lots of calorie counting or obey strict food rules.
