Gabriel Method

Billed as a simple weight loss plan that works without dieting, the Gabriel Method is based on a 2007 bestseller by Australian Jon Gabriel. Gabriel struggled with obesity for years, tipping in at over 400 pounds by the time he had a near-death experiment on Sept. 11, 2001 and decided to turn his life around. Despite his failures with different diet methods in the past, Gabriel lost over 225 pounds by giving up dieting and concentrating on areas of his life that introduced stress. According to the Gabriel Method, your body has an innate logic that determines how much you will weigh at any point in time. If you can adjust this “set point”, your body will want to be thinner and you will naturally eat less and have an increased metabolism.
Gabriel theorises that many of the diet plans in existence today put your body into starvation mode, and people’s bodies react by gaining weight in order to protect themselves from hunger. Emotional and physical stress can also convince your body to increase weight gain as protection against trauma. By ceasing the crash diet regimens and allowing your body to eat what it wants and craves, you will alleviate this response and help yourself reach a healthy “set point.”
Visualisation is emphasised throughout this diet plan to help adherents manage their life stresses. Raw foods and organic fruits, vegetables, and meats are emphasised in this plan, and exercise is encouraged as a way to help handle stresses and to help your body want to be healthy and thin. The basic components of this diet are nutritionally sound, and the philosophical aspects will appeal to dieters who have had little success with many other diets.
