Gavin Henson

Rugby Player

Born in Bridgend in February 1982, Gavin Henson is a Welsh rugby player who has appeared in many television commercials and sponsorships. We can see Henson appear in advertisements for Matalan, Brains Brewery, and Nike Pro. Henson currently plays for the Ospreys.

It all started in school. At Brynteg Comprehensive, Henson played rugby and was a star player. He went on to join Swansea RFC at the age of 18. In 2001, he was named Young Player of the Year by the International Rugby Board. Henson garnered much attention between 2005 and 2008 as part of Welsh team that achieved Grand Slams in the Six Nations Championship.

Additionally, he played for the British and Irish Lions in 2005, but never was part of a World Cup during that time. A talented player, Henson can play just about any position including, but certainly not limited to, fly-half, inside centre, and fullback. In 2005, ‘My Grand Slam Year’ was published, making Henson an author. His book comments on the Lions tour and other players, and it caused quite the commotion, eliciting a public apology to his team-mates.

For the past few years, Gavin Henson has been romantically involved with singer Charlotte Church, and the couple has two children together – a daughter named Ruby Megan (born in 2007) and a son named Dexter Lloyd (born in 2009). Though he seems to be a family man now, that doesn’t seem to keep him out of the news; in late 2007, Henson, along with three other men, was charged with disorderly conduct following rowdy behaviour on a train.
