How to Fix Common Knitting Mistakes

Knitting is fun, but some knitting problems may occur that can be confusing to handle. Here are some of the tips and ideas to fix knitting mistakes.

Fix the stitch – by holding the knitting needle with the stitches in your left hand. Use your thumb, middle fingers, and forefinger to hold and control knitting needle. Make sure that stitches are facing into V shaped forms, and purling across the back of the knitting needle, then insert the right knitting needle tip to the right portion of the stitch up to the left portion. After the left stitch has been dropped, proceed to the front portion until you loosen the strand.

Fixing a row of multiple dropped stitches – this can be caused by a dropped stitch that can affect the column of stitches to unravel, and affect the loose strands that resemble a rug’s ladder format.

Unknitting – When securing the knit and purl stitches to be aligned, it is sometimes unavoidable for a common knit to have a mistake. In order to fix this problem, the knitting must be stopped. The column of the previous row where the mistake originated must be located, then drop the stitch of the left needle and let it run downward until the undone strand has been lowered.

Unraveling – if a serious problem is seen in the garment, there is a more complex way to fix this problem. This means undoing all the stitches until the error has been fixed, and it may mean having to unravel the fabric itself and then sliding the needle carefully back into its loops, to make sure the twist of any stitches is being fixed.
