Once you have got yourself looking smart, you are almost ready to head into the interview room, but before you go there is one final tip that will make you seem genuine and smart: someone they are going to want to employ. This is a simple case of very basic research: find out about the company so that you can ask a question based around this knowledge. For example, ‘I know that you open on a Sunday, have you found that this has increased trade and would I be required to work some Sundays,’
This simple statement proves that you have looked at the company properly and are interested in the set up, and how they work.
In the interview room, be calm and be yourself; it is not a crime to be nervous, and nearly every single person no matter how old they are or how many interviews they have been to still get nervous, so the interviewer will understand. Don’t be afraid to think before you answer; a pause isn’t a bad thing, and if needed you can always say politely that you would like to think for a moment before answering their question. Try not to lie; there is no point saying that you are happy to work until 11pm in the evening if really you are not, or you don’t think your parents would let you. The truth is important – use it!
