However, knitting is not an easy task. It should be done carefully to avoid injuries or strains caused by the needles. Learning the methods and styles in knitting is a good way to prevent that and create different types of knitted fabrics. One particular style is increase and decrease knitting.
In increasing stitches, one should remember the following steps. First, knit the stitch in, around, and through a knit row. Then, knit the right needle at the back of the stitch located on the left needle. Slip this stitch off to create the extra stitch. Purl into the front of the stitch on the purl row and into the back of the stitch on the left needle.
On the other hand, interlace or purl two stitches simultaneously to decrease stitches. Slip the right needle through two stitches located on the knit row and interweave them like a single stitch. After that, purl into the front of the stitch on the purl row and into the back of the left needle’s stitch.
Knitting is an enjoyable experience. Knowing the styles and techniques to create beautiful and efficient knitted products will make the effort easier and pleasurable.
