Planning a bridal shower

Other than a hen night, a bridal shower is one of the last occasions that a bride celebrates with her friends before she gets married. As it is such an important occasion, careful planning is required to ensure you have one final blast with your girlfriends.

The first thing to decide is your budget. If you are bridesmaids arranging it, then decide how much you will be contributing and whether your other friends will contribute as well as the brides family. If you are paying for the shower, then you will have a pretty good idea of how much you will be spending. Once you have your final budget amount you have to split it up to include sending invitations, food, venue, drinks etc. One way of saving money is to have the shower at the bride’s house. This way you are saving money on going out and paying higher prices for drinks.

Decide your guest list – will it be every female guest that has been invited to the wedding, or only family and close friends. If it is to be a large affair then also decide whether you will be inviting friends who live out of town. Send out RSVP cards with your invites with a reply-by-date. Next plan your theme for the bridal shower – for example a princess theme or Cinderella. Choose colours and decorations to compliment the chosen theme.
