It is not necessary to have a big budget in order to turn the kitchen into a cosy place, for it can be done relatively inexpensively. If you are working with a limited budget, you can change the faucets and cabinet hardware and replace the lights to give the room a brighter look and save energy. You can also replace the cabinet doors, if you are capable.
If the appliances in your kitchen do not match, you can perform a makeover by getting new face panels. You can also consider reversing the face panel to have the dishwasher match the other appliances.
You can also clean the kitchen floor thoroughly. To remove its dullness, apply some wax to make it clean and shiny.
Replacing a sink and counter is not needed if the old ones are still in good condition. You can apply a coat of acrylic floor wax or just plainly clean them with water and vinegar to bring back their original look and sparkle. Maintain the walls and ceilings by cleaning them three times a year. You can also try to repaint them ,if they already look dull and drab.
