As you get older there are certain skills you should make sure you have gained that will really help you when you get into the world of work. Some of these skills are age restricted, such as getting your driving licence, but others, such as computer skills, can be gained at anytime.
In today’s world computers are everywhere, and this isn’t likely to change. So being able to confidently handle a computer and knowing how to make it do all the basic things is a skill that you will need. Nearly anywhere you are likely to end up working will use computers in some way. Whether it is a till or a mobile phone, these pieces of technology have all advanced so much; they are not basic telephones or cash registers any longer, so you will need computer knowledge to handle them.
You should try to pick up enough computer skills at school and at home so that you will not have any problems handling any type of computer. But if you are worried then there are evening classes available at local colleges that will show you the basic skills. For example being able to use word to create a document and print it or being able to send an email or access the internet. Most teenagers are going to gain all these skills and more at home and school, but there are some people who find them difficult. If you find them difficult don’t get left behind; do something about it.
