Slimming World Diet

As the largest UK-based weight loss organization, Slimming World holds over 6,000 weekly groups in various places throughout the UK. The Slimming World diet consists of a “Food Optimising” eating plan, a “Body Magic” exercise programme, and group support. Slimming World claims that this successful combination has helped over 5 million people lose weight over the past 40 years of the organization’s existence.

The secrets to Slimming World’s diet are calorie restriction and portion control which dieters learn in weekly group classes. Slimming World divides the days of the week in their food optimising plan into either red (or original) days or green days. The foods consumed on red days include fruits and vegetables, lean meats, eggs, and white fish. Healthy extras for red days include cheese, milk, bread, potatoes, grains, and dried fruits. On green days, dieters are urged to eat fruits and vegetables, beans, grains, pasta, tofu, eggs, and rice. Healthy extras on green days include cheese, milk, dried fruit, nuts, seeds, fish, beans, grains, and meat. They introduced an “Extra Easy” plan in 2009 which allows dieters to freely mix foods throughout red and green groups.

Dieters on the Slimming World plan can choose from a wide array of healthy, nutrition-packed food options while refraining from the consumption of fatty and sugary foods. Exercise is not an essential component of the programme but is strongly encouraged and Slimming World offers “Body Magic” classes several times a week. Nutritionists and doctors believe this plan is a healthy way to lose weight and many endorse the Slimming World program as an effective and nutritionally balanced weight loss program.
