Norfolk
The Maids Head Hotel claims to be the oldest hotel in the UK. This is a four-star establishment, located in Norwich city centre, directly opposite the cathedral. The building dates back to the thirteenth century and was originally owned by bishops. It features 84 rooms, ranging from standard twins to suites and family rooms, all of which are en-suite with satellite TV, Internet access and period features.
The Courtyard Restaurant has been awarded an AA rosette for the quality of its food and service and offers a seasonally changing menu. For those planning a wedding, there is a wide choice of dishes to suit all tastes and budgets, while special dietary requirements can be catered for. There is also a selection of buffet menus to choose from for evening celebrations.
The hotel has a qualified wedding co-ordinator to assist with the planning and packages are available that include items such as a red carpet welcome, complimentary accommodation for the bride and one bridesmaid the night before the wedding, reduced accommodation rates for guests and complimentary accommodation for the bride and groom on the wedding night.
Up to 120 guests can be accommodated for wedding ceremonies, with a choice of function rooms available for smaller parties. Wedding photographs can be taken in the grounds of the cathedral opposite, which provides an ideal backdrop. The resident DJ provides evening entertainment and the in-house florist can provide arrangements for table decorations.
