The Manor House Hotel

Durham

The Manor House Hotel is a Jacobean Grade I listed building, the foundations of which date back to the twelfth century. Situated in the town of West Auckland it is reported to have been a hunting lodge belonging to Henry VIII and has all the features one would expect from such an old property, including secret passages and a resident ghost.

The hotel offers 35 rooms, which range from standard to suites, all equipped with flat screen digital TV. The restaurant and brasserie provide a mix of traditional and exotic cuisine.

Guests have complimentary use of the leisure club, which has a swimming pool, spa bath, fitness suite and sauna. Health and beauty treatments are available at the Beauty Room Spa.

Exclusive use of the hotel is available for wedding parties and the hotel can provide a red carpet and toastmaster for the celebrations. For the ceremony itself, the Eden Room can accommodate up to 30 guests, while the Knights Hall Suite is suitable for parties of up to 120 for both the ceremony and the wedding breakfast.

Varied menus and drinks packages are available to choose from for both the wedding breakfast and the buffet at the evening reception, with a separate children’s menu if required. If you have any particular requirements the hotel will accommodate them, as far as possible.

Guests can take advantage of reduced rates for accommodation and the hotel’s landscaped grounds are perfect for the wedding photographs.
