The Princes Trust is an organisation set up by the Prince of Wales to help young people in a variety of ways. This article will explain how they might be able to help you.
One of the issues they found was that young people find getting work after education difficult, and there are actually about 1 in 5 young people out of work. One of the things they discovered is that sometimes the problem went right back to school days where for various reasons young people lost interest in the education system and stopped going to school. Rather than giving up on them, the Princes Trust decided that it wanted to help by setting up ‘XL Clubs’ in as many places as they possible could.
If you feel hopeless because you can’t cope with school or because you are having issues at home, look to see whether the Princes Trust operates a club near you. The club is for people aged 14-16, and they work with schools to provide somewhere safe for you to be, rather than wandering the streets, and the staff at the clubs are trained to help you with whatever issues you find yourself struggling to deal with.
They can then be your advocate and speak to people on your behalf, whether that is the school so that you feel happy going back in or other organisations so that you can get involved in a vocational based training scheme instead. They are on your side and there to help.
