This tends to indicate that movie audiences must be avid fans of the characters and plots in these films, to such a degree that they want to see them in the theatres time and time again. Another epic battle that cinema goers have loved for decades. The third in the series proved to be staggeringly successful and brought in $380million. I’m sure the producers of this franchise were quite pleased with the results.

The first film in the franchise. The previews were amazing, with the most incredible special effects ever seen at the time and everyone wanted to be a part of it. People of all ages filled the theatres and watched their hero, Spiderman battle the forces of evil. They ended up paying out $407million for the privilege.
6. ‘Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest’
Johnny Depp’s drunken pirate has become an instant classic character. Along with some really unique stories, a great cast and some awesome stunts, this one pulled in $423million. Will we see another one, Who knows…,

Ah, the movie that made grown men run to the theatres with their children, to reclaim their youth, ‘Star Wars’. A staple for science fiction fans, this film made even those who hate the genre attend, because to be completely honest, the previews just looked so dang cool. $431million.

The greatest movie about aliens ever made. This touching tale is still popular and made children beg their parents to take them to the theatres. With famous lines like “E.T. phone home” how could you not love the lost little alien, Audiences sure did, they loved him $435million worth.
3. ‘Shrek 2’
The first movie struck a chord with viewers as a smart and sassy animated film that had something for everyone, not just the kids. Thus the release of the second film made audiences want to rush in and see what else the green ogre could deliver. Well, he delivered $437million.
