All but two of the ten highest grossing box office films in history are parts of a series. This tends to indicate that movie audiences must be avid fans of the characters and plots in these films, to such a degree that they want to see them in the theatres time and time again. Here they are, the top ten highest grossing box office films of all time.
10. ‘Spiderman 2’
$373million in box office sales, make this second look at Spiderman a success. Our hero’s ongoing quest for love, while trying to be a good guy and do the right thing, made people come back for more.
9. ‘The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King’
The books, the toys, the movies. Peter Jackson’s epic story took audiences to far off places and allowed them to explore worlds seemingly beyond one’s imagining. His careful planning and attention detail paid off with audiences, to the tune of $377million.
